Chief Executive Officer, Euroclear UK & Ireland
John Trundle has been Chief Executive Officer of Euroclear UK & Ireland since 2012. He is a member of the Euroclear UK & Ireland Board of Directors and the Euroclear Group Extended Management Committee. Previously, Mr. Trundle was Chief Risk Officer of the Euroclear group with responsibility for the assessment and management of all risks throughout the group. Mr. Trundle was also an executive director and member of the Board of Euroclear Bank and a non-executive director of Euroclear UK & Ireland. Mr. Trundle began his career with the Bank of England first as an economist, later as private secretary to the Governor, and then as head of the Market Infrastructure and Business Continuity Divisions. During this period he was responsible for payment and settlement policy, and in charge of the oversight of payment systems in the UK. He was actively involved in international payment and settlement developments through the European Central Bank payments committee and the Basel Committee on Payment and Settlement Systems (CPSS), where he chaired the group which produced the Core Principles for Systemically Important Payment Systems in 2001. Mr. Trundle holds an MBA from the London Business School (UK) and an economics degree from Cambridge University. John Trundle is a member of the FCA Markets Practitioner Panel, the editorial board of the Journal of Financial Market Infrastructures, the SWIFT Institute Advisory Committee and the World Bank’s G25 Panel of Experts on financial market infrastructure. He is also chairman of the City-based charity, Blind in Business.
